Originally established in 1896 as a picnic and recreational park, Wyandot Lake evolved into an amusement park over the years. In 2006, the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium acquired the property with plans for redevelopment. The transformation of Wyandot Lake into Zoombezi Bay involved extensive reconstruction and modernization.
