Destination guide

Bavaria

Bavaria’s modern destination-park history includes the German development of the LEGOLAND model.

The story behind the day out

Brick-built worlds arrive in Günzburg

LEGOLAND Deutschland opened in Günzburg on 17 May 2002. The operator records forty attractions, shows and workshops across seven themed areas at opening. LEGO-built models were central to the concept, making construction and miniature representation part of the park’s identity. The opening belongs to a specific development in Bavaria, distinct from the much earlier LEGOLAND park at Billund in Denmark.
