Go somewhere good

Parks, big days out, and places worth exploring.

Destination guide

Georgia

Georgia’s aquatic-attraction history includes a permanent destination built around a summer day in the water.

The story behind the day out

A dedicated water park outside Atlanta

White Water opened in 1984. Six Flags’ own retrospective identifies the Little Hooch Lazy River as an attraction present from the beginning. The park’s founding story is therefore about a coordinated water-recreation destination, not just the addition of a swimming pool to another business. Its original opening year also predates the later Six Flags identity under which visitors may now recognize the park.
