An international park opens on Lantau
Hong Kong Disneyland Resort celebrated its grand opening on 12 September 2005. Its official milestones trace the project through the earlier announcement and development stages. The opening introduced a Disney resort to Hong Kong, with the park’s themed environments placed against the island’s mountainous setting. This is one chapter in the territory’s wider amusement history, rather than the beginning of family attractions in Hong Kong.
