Destination guide
Île-de-France
Île-de-France’s modern theme-park history includes a development planned together with transport and a wider urban district.
The story behind the day out
A resort takes shape east of Paris
Disneyland Paris opened on 12 April 1992, following the foundational agreement of 1987. The Marne-la-Vallée–Chessy regional rail station opened shortly before the park, making transport part of the destination’s launch. A second park followed in 2002. The sequence shows how the resort grew in stages: the park gates, access infrastructure and later expansion are connected pieces of a larger regional development.
