Paradise Island’s expanding waterscape

Atlantis opened in 1994 with a waterscape of pools, waterfalls, a lazy river and marine exhibits. Aquaventure formed part of a major 2007 expansion. The two milestones explain the layered history of the resort: its original water environments and the later development are connected, but they are not the same opening. The attraction’s lost-city setting made water part of the resort’s narrative from an early stage.
