The story behind the day out
A showman develops a former wildlife-park site
Heide Park opened on 19 August 1978. Its official history traces the project to showman Hans-Jürgen Tiemann, who acquired the former Heidenhof wildlife-park property. The first season began with six rides. That relatively small opening collection is a useful reminder that a large destination can grow through successive additions, while its original landscape and the founder’s fairground background remain part of the story.
