The story behind the day out
Cinema and technology become a park
Futuroscope opened to the public on 31 May 1987. Its official educational chronology records the Kinémax, the Futuroscope pavilion and a play area among the opening elements. The first dynamic cinema followed in 1988. The original proposition was therefore different from a traditional fairground: the spectacle came from cinema technology and the buildings that housed it, with later attractions extending that foundation.
