The story behind the day out
Two different parks develop at Williamsburg
Corporate historical reporting records Busch Gardens Williamsburg opening in 1975 and Water Country USA opening in 1984. The dates distinguish the two attractions even though they are often discussed together. Water Country added a dedicated aquatic experience to the area’s leisure landscape. Their shared destination context should not obscure the separate origins, formats and development histories of the parks themselves.
