About Chippewa Park
Chippewa Park is a Lake Superior day out first and an amusement stop second. On Thunder Bay’s waterfront, views toward the Sleeping Giant and a longstanding place in local family life give it a distinctive character. Come for a picnic, open air and a slower afternoon, with seasonal rides adding an extra treat for younger visitors.
The traditional merry-go-round and small collection of children’s and family rides sit alongside the waterfront and pavilion. Leave room for a walk by the lake rather than planning only around amusements. The rides follow a summer schedule, while nearby camping and cabins offer a way to spend longer in the setting. It is an outing best enjoyed at the pace of the youngest visitors, with plenty of time between favourites.

Planning your visit
Navigate to 2465 City Road and use the city’s park information for the facilities you intend to use. If the rides are the main reason for travelling, confirm their particular operating days rather than relying on general park access. Allow time simply to enjoy the shore and bring layers appropriate to Lake Superior conditions. Check current water conditions and local advice before any swimming plans, and treat accommodation reservations separately from a day visit.
