About Cascade Park
Cascade Park carries the atmosphere of an old amusement outing into a quieter present. In New Castle, its wooded setting, picnic grounds and enduring dance pavilion make it a place for a family gathering or a walk with a sense of local history. The pleasure is in spending time in the landscape, rather than working through a ride list.
The park grew out of the trolley-park era and remains a city-owned recreation property. Today’s municipal description centres on picnic shelters, a playground, the pavilion and spaces used for community and larger events. Its amusement history helps explain the setting, but the old coaster collection is not a present-day attraction programme. A public park visit and a privately booked pavilion event also involve different arrangements.

Planning your visit
Navigate to East Washington Street rather than the city recreation department’s office address. Choose the visit around a walk, picnic or confirmed event, and reserve a shelter if your gathering depends on one. Allow for the terrain and the weather when choosing a route. A shorter walk followed by time together at a picnic spot suits this park better than expecting the pace or facilities of a modern ticketed amusement resort.
