The experience
“it’s a small world” at Disneyland Park carries its world-travel story through music and design. Choose it for a boat journey with many small scenes to notice. The song links the rooms, while changes in color, costume and setting give each its own character.
Look for the design behind the song
The operator’s account credits Mary Blair as art director and Alice Davis as costumer. Richard and Robert Sherman wrote the song. Disney also dates the addition of familiar Disney and Pixar characters to 2009. Those are different creative chapters within the same attraction.
Wheelchair and ECV arrangements differ
Use Disney’s current boarding and access information to check the boat and transfer arrangements that fit your visit. A wheelchair and an ECV can require different plans. Ask a Cast Member about the boat setup, route to boarding and any viewing or listening support before joining the queue.
A recurring holiday chapter
“it’s a small world” Holiday adds a lit facade, decorations and holiday music to the attraction’s identity. D23’s historical account traces the recurring transformation to 1997, with holiday tunes woven together with the original song. It is a presentation of this boat ride, rather than a second permanent attraction. Check the operator listing for the presentation offered during your visit.
From a world’s fair to other parks
D23 records the journey from the 1964–65 New York World’s Fair to a Disneyland opening on May 28, 1966. It also identifies versions at Magic Kingdom Park, Tokyo Disneyland, Parc Disneyland and Hong Kong Disneyland. Tokyo’s description shares the musical boat-tour idea. Compare the local art and setting, then use that park’s own boarding guidance.
