The story behind the day out
A water park joins the Jackson destination
Hurricane Harbor New Jersey opened at Jackson in 2000. A Six Flags corporate presentation filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission records the water park’s construction in that year as part of the wider Great Adventure destination. The development added a different attraction format to an established amusement site. Its history should therefore be distinguished from the earlier founding of Great Adventure itself.
